The town of Muar has a land size of 2,346.12 km2 and has a population of about 150,000 people. It is known for its food and coffee produce where it was previously known as a fishing village. It is also known as Bandar Maharani traditionally and is located around the northwestern region of the state.
It is known as the border town that joins Johor with Melaka towards the north. Heading down south is Batu Pahat while Pagoh is towards the east. The Muar river, which is one of the main fishing rivers here runs through the Muar town.
